Cargo securing and safe lifting with crane truck

A crane truck handles many different types of goods and situations, which require both cargo securing and lifting. It is therefore important to ensure that the right knowledge, handling methods and equipment are available on these occasions.

Cargo securing with crane truck

A crane truck is a type of distribution truck that is used to transport goods, which because of their bulk or weight need to be loaded and unloaded with a crane. Most transport involves shorter journeys within the same region. Goods that are transported most frequently on a crane truck include building materials such as wood, bricks, paving stones, windows and metal structures. Pleasure boats are also a common cargo for crane trucks. In these different transport situations it is important to ensure that the right cargo securing equipment is available for each application.

Methods and products for securing cargo on a crane truck

The most widely used methods for securing cargo on a crane truck are lashing and blocking. Products that are often used for securing cargo on a crane truck are 50 mm lashings and support poles. It is also useful to have aids such as corner protection, Multi-Stick, friction mats, support leg plates and webbing winders on hand.

Safe lifting with crane truck

Crane trucks often transport materials to construction sites where there may be many people and vehicles moving about. Employees who are responsible for lifting not only have a responsibility to ensure that goods are lifted on site without damage, but also that the lifting is safe for other employees in the workplace. Clear safety routines and access to appropriate equipment on site are essential for safe lifting.

Products for safe lifting on construction sites

Most lifting on a construction site is done with a crane in combination with soft lifting equipment, hard lifting equipment and pallet lifting forks, for example.

Products that are often used for lifting safely with soft lifting equipment are round slings, webbing slings and eye-eye webbing slings. For safe lifting with hard equipment, grade 8 and grade 10 chain lifting equipment with 1–4 parts are used. Additional equipment can include lifting clutches, barrel lifters, lifting beams, swivel chain slings, pallet lifting forks, beam clamps and support leg plates.
