Regulations for cargo securing

Cargo securing is regulated by laws and regulations. Reliable cargo securing must follow these regulations. In Sweden, the regulations for securing cargo on vehicles are set by the Swedish Transport Agency.

Since May 2001, lashing equipment, with few exceptions*, has been manufactured in accordance with EN-12195** within all EU countries. From 20 May 2018 the European directive 2014/47/EC applies, which states that the equipment must be manufactured in accordance to a number of listed standards or otherwise certified, including EN 12195**. The new regulations are based on the "European guidelines for best practice - Load securing for road transport".

* A lashing directly adapted, e.g. for shipping, may be marked and constructed in a different way.

** EN 12195-2 for lashing equipment of synthetic straps, EN 12195-3 for chain lashing.
