Solutions for recovery

Recovery is a field that is challenging and demanding in several ways. Many situations require unique efforts, and often the forces set in motion are difficult to estimate.

For example, it can be very challenging to assess how much force is needed on the winch to free a vehicle or carriage stuck for various reasons. This places high demands on the recovery equipment and recovery vehicle used.

Forankra has taken note of this and has therefore developed a recovery range that both facilitates the daily work for recovery professionals and aims to make it as safe as possible for the user. We therefore have the same high safety factor on our recovery equipment as on standard lifting equipment. The recovery range also includes equipment for cargo securing, which is used to ensure secure transport of the recovered vehicle.

At Forankra, we actively engage in the development of both equipment and regulations, which is why our equipment is manufactured and labeled according to the requirements of TSFS 2017:25 – for your safety.

What methods and products are used in recovery?

Pull up vehicles to be recovered

In the interpretation of the European Machinery Directive (which establishes the minimum level of safety and health requirements for machinery, including lifting equipment), it is mentioned that a pull on the ground, where the load will not remain if pulling forces disappear, should be considered as a lift in the inclined plane.

At Forankra, we have taken this into account and equate recovery with "ground-based lift." Therefore, the recovery equipment is labeled with WLL (Working Load Limit) and is manufactured with the same high safety factors as standard lifting products. However, this equipment undergoes considerable wear and tear, so it should never be used for standard lifts where the load leaves the ground!

Each product comes with an instruction manual that provides assistance, including information on how angles affect the equipment's capacity.

Cargo securing of recovered vehicles

For the next step – the removal of recovered vehicles – Forankra has a wide range of cargo securing equipment. This stage is considered a standard transport, and compliance with the requirements of the Swedish Transport Agency's regulation 2017:25 is necessary. Here, you will find products with information on LC and STF.

Forankra's range of cargo securing covers everything from "ordinary" cargo securing equipment to specially designed gear. In the field of Recovery, you will find equipment focused on securing wheeled vehicles.

To assist you in choosing and sizing suitable equipment we refer to Forankra's "Guideline for Cargo Securing" and the TYA Industry Standard Guide, which also provides examples of how to proceed.

Recommended product groups for recovery (towing and cargo securing):

round sling, webbing sling

Lifting components grade 80, hooks etc

For your safety

• Two-part recovery equipment are based on an even distribution of the load on both parts (legs) of the equipment.

If the connection means that one part bears the entire or a larger portion of the load, the capacity may significantly decrease compared to the value on the identification tag!

Check the instruction manual to understand how to calculate the equipment's capacity.

• A knot on a strap or coupling strap to strap can reduce strength by more than 50% and must therefore not occur!

• Ensure that the recovery vehicle is equipped with high-quality equipment that allows you to handle most recovery situations – both towing and cargo securing.

Different types of equipment for recovery and towing.

In our extensive category of recovery and towing equipment, we provide various solutions for both gentle and robust vehicle relocation. Our range includes soft recovery equipment made of high-quality polyester for gentle transport and hard recovery equipment with strong chains for demanding recovery needs.

Our soft recovery equipment, made of high-quality polyester webbing, are designed to minimize damage and maximize efficiency during recovery while maintaining the highest standards of durability and reliability.

Among hard recovery tools various types of towing chains are included which are designed to withstand heavy loads and challenging conditions and thereby enabling a durable and efficient method for vehicle recovery.

Wide body recovery slings are soft recovery slings developed to facilitate large-scale recovery operations that require extra force. With these slings, the force is evenly distributed over a large area to prevent damage to the objects being recovered. Wide body recovery slings are made of durable material and designed to withstand the toughest environments.

In connection with the transport of the recovered vehicle, various types of wheel lashings or different combinations of straps (short part/long part), locking straps, webbing slings and hooks are often used.

Classic Wheel Lashing

Wheel lashing halter, endless

Long parts with locking sling

Webbing sling with double hooks
